A little over two years ago, I started making some videos of our lives in Germany to send back to my grandfather, who couldn’t really travel. It turned out that these videos grew in popularity and ended up being copied and passed around to other family members. Fast forward to today, and there are now 17 people on the distribution list. Back in October we had some equipment failures that delayed our monthly mailings. We now have the right equipment to be back in the game, but the production line is seriously backed up. Here is the stack of DVDs ready for shipment:

Under normal circumstances, any audio/visual material has to be directly screened by the Lebanese government before it leaves the country. How would you like to be the person assigned to watch all these discs?

Question: So when shipping video home to the family, what is the process they go through. can it be done while your stand there or do you have to wait a day or two? Would you have to make an appointment? is it done at the post office?
Sorry for the many questions, it's interesting, I've never heard of a country doing that so I'm very curious
The package has to go through clearance before they will actually send it out of the country. Usually, it takes several days. You don't have to make an appointment.
HOLY COW! That's a lot of disks! out of curiousity, who are on this ever growing list? well I guess once you work your way through our siblings and Mary Anns siblings and parents you get there pretty quick.
What a stupid idea to screen that material, I mean the internet is free, if I had anything secret to send I could send it through the net... well ok sending the equivalent of a DVD would take months with the speed we have, but I could still just slip a couple DVDs in someone's luggage. Or better encrypt the movie into a file and pretend that it's a data disc. They wont be able to see the movie even if they knew about it.
This screening is totally useless and I bet all it does is provide employment for some illiterate guy at the expense of the taxpayers. This is outrageous.
