Mystery device

From the vantage point of our new apartment, I’ve been able to gain some insight into Lebanese apartment construction. Some of the gizmos people have on their roofs are a bit odd. One in particular confused me for a while. I think I’ve finally had a eureka moment with a strange piece of equipment on the building across from us. I thought it might be fun to have a little guessing game to see if you folks can figure it out too.

No hints from you Lebanese folks who already know what it is!

a chimney extension sort of... with a cross on its top ? Presuming they're a superstitious or religious christian family ?

the chimney in lebanon is called soobya or chaufage , alot of carbon monoxide is present as a byproduct of incomplete combustion (burning) ... not safe , and the fumes are mazoot petrol fuel (diesel)fumes... I hope I got it right ? :) whats an r2d2 ,lol ?

An R2D2 is one of the earliest models of the modern domestic homosexual as depicted metaphorically by mainstream Hollywood.

The mystery object is actually a roof-mounted muffler for the apartmenr building's generator. No information is available on whether or not it might be gay.

I thought 3P0 is the "modern domestic homeosexuell as depicted by mainstream Hollywood" as there is no way I could say it just as well in my own words
