This one is rather easier than yesterday's, but since these aren't too common in the area of the States that I come from, I thought I would post them. Anyone want to guess what these devices are for?

Again, if you are from Lebanon, don't ruin the game for the other folks.

aour word verification system stinks....Karin it HATES me
good thing you circled what you were talking about, because in 99% of the US, nothing in that picture would look familiar. karin seems like she really thinks it's water tanks, so i'll agree with her (funny how easily convinced some people are). but, at first, i thought they were elevator shafts... but, i mean, we HAVE those, so i don't know...
I would say that one of them is a water tank, one is an air conditioner, and one is some sort of energy storage device, maybe a giant capacitor
They look like huge swamp coolers to me.
a place to keep unruly children ?
The one on the right (as well as the one in the front) is a metal water tank, the one on the left is made of plastic.
Karin is right, they are all water tanks. Because the publicly available water system can not supply water to the whole city at once, water is only available at irregular intervals. In order to compensate for this, people stash water tanks on the roof, and fill them up when the water is flowing. In many cases, these tanks are actually filled by private water deliveries that dispense safer water than the municipal supply.
Sometimes, you will see tanks like this on the roofs of apartment buildings in New York to deal with peak demand in the mornings and evenings when lots of folks are taking showers.
i was going to say a place to store steve mcqueen after an escape attempt...
