Change of plans

I had been planning to take the kids out to the park this afternoon, until I saw this:

Lebanese torch Danish consulate over cartoons

I am not very happy with the idea that I need to check the news before leaving the house.

What a challenging place and time to be. I am impressed that so many church and community leaders are at least speaking out against the rioters. Hopefully that will keep the majority of the people sane and using restraint. What are your coworkers saying? Dad

I'm glad, at least, that you've moved into your new apartment...

I have found it of interest that since this controversy began, I have not seen any links to the actual cartoons--only text descriptions. This may be that the US press is exercising appropriate restraint, or that I'm not a very good surfer. (I'm not interested in seeing them and haven't been looking for them, by the way.)
Glad you all are safe. How far is the Danish Embassay from where you used to live?

i've seen them with several articles in online outlets. and, hopefully, you have, too, matthew. that way you'll know what NOT to dress your kids like on halloween

It's somewhat near our old place, but not particularly close.

this reaction is reinforcing so many islamic stereotypes. why can't they just calm down?

Most muslems are calm and protesting in a correct manner, these vandals just came out of nowhere and torched the embassy. They do not represent islam, just in case someone did not figure it out.
