I've blogged about shopping for French castles in the past, but this one has really made an impression on me. It's just outside Batroun, in the north-ish region of Lebanon. Of course, it would need a lot of work to be habitable, but it's just so picturesque. How can you not like this place?

jeep should use this place in their commercials.
no place like home....
sheesh! How did they build that sucker to begin with! I guess they were VERY safe.
Is that the front or the back? In the immortal words of Joan Crawford in "Mommie Dearest," tear down that bitch of a bearing wall and put a window where a window ought to be!!! And then it would be just lovely.
it looks like something a german would have built
i like how it seems to spring up from that rock it's on- very in tune with its surroundings.
That is awesome!
(funny that the first thought that came to my mind was that jeep should use this for a commercial)
Ah look at it full size I can see twisted faces all over in the rocks.
I love that one! It is so overlooked, also. I'm not sure why, since it is so easy to get to. It seems that it is being allowed to fall into complete disrepair, sadly. Your pictures (here and on the other site) are great-- you have managed to give the illusion that there is very little trash strewn around....

I'm going to say the view is from the front. It's a bit tough to tell with this particular one. It's true that it isn't very well window-ed, but we can't all be as fortunate as Lady Catherine de Berg. Bonus point for anyone who knows how much her windows cost. =)
I find the appeal of this one to center more on the surroundings and the layout of the castle itself. The external view isn't quite as spectacular as some of the others I've seen.
I used to live here ! believe me we played you're it and run arround it !
